The Search For Familiar Poem by Nyasha Gift Nyatsambo

The Search For Familiar

I moved beyond the woods
Fearing that mine mind would shudder
At the horrors it clothed inside.

I moved beyond the woods
Hopeful that at the end
The rain would calm the sneers
Of my deranged soul

I moved beyond the woods
Chasing a light in your smile
That glowed like moonlight
On a November night.

Day and night I toiled,
Wrestling demons and dark thoughts,
Nursing sorrows and lost hopes,

Forever praying that the tomb
would open and reveal
the streams of salvation
-flowing-
inside your heart's womb!
