The Sea Poem by Elia Michael

The Sea

Rating: 5.0

I came upon the sea or thalassa
And marvelled at the truest of all blues
I saw an image of earth by NASA
A beautiful globe in similar hues

I came upon a field of parched red earth
And its residents the gold wildflowers
I sat and mused on this my land of birth
For what seemed like very many long hours

Have you ever felt that feeling of awe
When you look at such natural beauty
When time stands still and you know all the more
To preserve such splendour is our duty?

I came upon the sea or thalassa
It was the first time I ever saw it
I cried aloud thalassa! thalasssa!
Like the Ten Thousand Greeks when they saw it
