The Rope Poem by Kim Hooten

The Rope

Rating: 5.0

My grip on life is slipping
I can't hold on for long
Alone I cannot do it
My heart's just no that strong
My thread of life is fraying
Falling all apart
I don't know how to fix it
I don't know where to start
This weight on me gets heavier
And with it on the thread
I know it can't be too much longer
I feel already dead
I cry my tears for all I've lost
And all they don't know they'll lose
But it's far too late to tell them now
I haven't the power to choose
Burning tears stream from my eyes
And fall on my shread of life
They burn the thread, they are so full
Of anger pain and strife
This rope snaps as I slowly fall
My useless grip is gone
I close my eyes, feel the release
For I am no longer a pawn...
