The River Poem by Jim O'Donnell

The River

Rating: 5.0

River sparkling clean and bright
Endlessly flowing through the night
Stars they shine upon your face
Each like a diamond put in place

Traveling from the hills on high
Many landscapes you pass by
Cutting your way through the land

Tributaries join you as you flow
Into a mighty river grow
Running silent and running deep
You carry boats of mighty fleets

You carry on to reach your goal
Keep on flowing as you go
The estuary is just ahead
And that is were you lay to rest

The snow and rain falls on the hills
Your vanes of life begin to fill
In the hills and in the glens
Your journey starts yet again
