The Recent Avalanche At India's Siachen Poem by Dr John Celes

The Recent Avalanche At India's Siachen

In Siachen, there lies a face
With head buried in snow;
It looks more human when you gaze -
A heap of ice for now.

And by its side, there lies a heart
That's half buried in ice;
The heart has stopped its beating part
And looks giant in size.

A twenty thousand feet up there
Where ice can slide like sand;
An icy chill and heavy air
Bathes this whitish highland.

Where human beings try to dare
And live for country's sake;
The Indian tri-color stands bare
Upon a solid lake.

And buried in these sands of ice
Lie heroes by snow-slide;
To abandon the place is wise
As too many have died.

Its strategic location gives
To India advantage;
The world's top-most place took more lives
And stays history's war-page.

Kudos to Indians who went there
For vigil night and day;
They lived and died for our welfare -
Brave-hearts in every way.

Let Indians all salute always
And for these heroes pray;
Their sacrifice, time can't erase,
But sublime ever stay.

Today on Valentine's Day great,
All brave-hearts, I salute;
Indians at Siachen till date,
Who died and made world mute!

Endearingly dedicated in memory of the lives of all brave-hearts
Who lost their lives so far to make India proud.
Kudos to the Indian Army Brave-hearts of Siachen
