The Rain Collector (Poetry For The Delta) Poem by Morakinyo Temiloluwa Bolarinwa

The Rain Collector (Poetry For The Delta)

Afasegbejo, the self deceiver,
perpetually perpetuating stupidity,
the one that turns in a widening gyre,
must be confused as to his own reality.

His efforts are in futility,
like the sand wishing against the stream's current,
his gatherings are in nullity,
like the hen attempting to make a tent.

The tick killing the dog also prepares for suicide,
the sword destroying the sheath also prepares to be homeless,
to protest the King, who torches the hut his Father is inside,
no, our tears must not put our eyes in darkness.

If we decide to scratch at the rate of itchiness,
we are most likely to scratch to the bones,
when the famous buttocks suffers illness,
the problem becomes only the carrier's own.

Moreover, even the mad dog must see its owner,
the stone thrown into the market might hit a kin,
so that regrets would not end this matter,
like Afasegbejo, the rain collector in raffia bin.
