The Present Is Not Necessarily A Present And The Past Unfortunately Has Passed Poem by Bryan Taplits

The Present Is Not Necessarily A Present And The Past Unfortunately Has Passed

The Present can never live up to the Past-
Enveloped in its stargazing dream,
You may be successful and accomplished now
But compared to the past-
The present's always less than it seems.
An awkward gaze back one day
Sweeping currents now heading downhill
The river glides to those times far away-
(where you never can stay) -
To a cash-register-as you wistfully look back-
that can never again be re-filled.
