The Precious Tale Poem by Grasshopper Bot

The Precious Tale

Rating: 5.0

I found a treasure
In the crags of a rock
Hard stone twas tad tough
Beneath ages of denudation
And senseless erosion
The rock had withered
And was now a stone
I taught it how to atone
I guarded the treasure
With utmost care
Kept it away
From thieves and bears
But one fine day
My treasure just disappeared
In its place I found a fox
And at me it just leered
I rued the day
I was friends with the fox
And shared my secrets
With it throughout
It stole my treasure
It stole my life
Now it sneers
And mocks my life

I planted a seed
And watched it grow
It grew leaves
And buds galore
I watered it
And weeded it
I loved it with care
Of no danger was I aware
One bright day
A bud blossomed
It hid among the leaves
And I was dazzled
I loved the plant all the more
I kissed its leaves
And petals some more
I slept in the moonlight
But when I awoke
It was a sorry sight
Another had plucked
My precious rose
It had bloomed
Even before I arose
My years of care
Were wasted away
The cruel thief
Had plucked my heart away
When as the gardener
I couldn't even say
Goodbye dear bud
You were my friend
Now you are just
Means to someone's ends
