My friend has come back to me
And I can only wonder
Is this all true
Or just a nine day wonder

All alone in the universe
Have I traversed
Not with kith nor kin
Have I truly versed

But together we entwine like water and wine
Milk and sugar and everything divine
A perfect tandem that looks random
But the work of the mighty phantom

My friend is perfect
Flawed and flawless
Multi faceted in need of a caress
I must restrain lest sin is elect

Keep evil thoughts away from me God
Keep us safe from sin and sloth
Keep us in your loving care
Finding friendship that is ever so rare

When evil thoughts do come to a fore
Help us to show it the back door
Cold Centuries and more we can face
When we have such a friend in the right place
