The Portal Poem by Ludvig Von Himmelstein

The Portal

If ever
A perfect soul
Found a portal
to this world
it would be your face
I'm not allowed
to say it's beautiful
though many would
but they could not
fathom its depths, I do

If ever
sweet grace
played a flute
to make itself heard
it would be your voice
I'm not allowed
to say its beautiful
though many would
but they could not
fathom its depths, I do

If ever the divine
comes to raise me
from time to time
it would be
through your eyes
no need to possess
or tell you what to do
Gods fickle magic
flows through you

And while others
worship at the seat
of celebrity
such magic is limited
the affect fleeting
the aspect suspect
But is my fortune
to spot you here and there
and from time to time
walk along your side
you appear at the just
and the right time
when hope in short supply
depression in the air
lifting me and others
your person verse sublime
