The Poet's Eye Poem by Ravikumar C.P.

The Poet's Eye

Telugu Poem by Sri Sri
Translated by C.P. Ravikumar

Be it a little pup that cuddles at your feet,
Or the mighty ship that leads a fleet,
Or just a piece of soap, melting in a lonely suite -
There is nothing that a poet's eye will not meet
and magically transform into a poem complete.
Things as simple as the earthen lamp,
a thing as mundane as a postage stamp,
how they come alive in colors grand,
with a single touch of the poet's wand!
For the poet's eye sees beyond the dreary,
crossing beyond the physical boundary,
a certain grace and an unmistakable symmetry.
The poet closes his eyes, as though in a reverie:
and foresees the smiling blossoms of poetry.
