The Poet Poem by Mokganedi Tatlhego

The Poet

Rating: 4.0

The heart longs to sing and yell his words
Once again pay tribute to the love and lament pain in this world
To chant in appreciation and in love purr
I am the voice that croons these carols in turn

The beauty of the world in the eyes is seen
Pity when we share the eyes fall short of sharing where they’ve been
The spoken word paints the picture for literature to keep
I am the poet that lays the experience so eager and keen

A word to set one free
A nod to agree
Where history is allowed to seed
And knowledge bids strength to the weak

Actions speak louder than words its said
But which reaches furthest if we sailed?
This is the voice of a poet, sent freely without taint
Blame me not for wholesome utterances, ‘cause the world lies virgin for me to paint!
