The Phantom War

the phantom war we fight today

we also fought it yesterday

who gave the orders

who gave the drill

only myself

and my own will

or something else beyond the grave

that wants to slay me

when I pray

that thou O Lord

are ever near

to calm me in my terrible fears

that keep me waging over years

a phantom war

with phantom tears.
