The Person Who Defames You Poem by Francis Duggan

The Person Who Defames You

The person who defames you can never be your mate
But never think about revenge or surrender to hate
Just get on with your life on your side you have truth
And consider yourself lucky to have the gift of youth
Words can be harmful and hurtful otherwise why pretend
And the person who defames you can never be your friend
Your true friends never bad mouth you or with their words put you down
And though lies can cause you damage in a small Countrytown
From the World out there no need for to hide
One thing at least you have the truth on your side
It may be a bit painful for you to recall
That the one you thought was your friend was not your friend at all
Life deals us such people for life is this way
And a lesson from life we do learn every day.
