The Parking Lot Poem by Richard Hinz

The Parking Lot

I saw you there in the parking lot
Standing all alone with your little push cart
Looking for your car to go home
You looked at me and gave a helpless smile
And I could see you had been a while
Lost in this big parking lot.....

Was it me and my frozen smile
As we stood there for a long while
But you suddenly found your spot
It was just across the lot
Well you seemed to see clear
And found your car near!

My heart is in a knot
As you stumbled across the lot
I simply watched from afar
As you clambered into your car
You gave a little smile
And drove away with my heart.......

Alone now in the parking lot
My heart is still beating
I'm glad you found your spot
Stumbling across the lot with my little push cart
Looking for my spot
Lost in this big parking lot!
