The Only Way To Be Poem by Mike Kosman

The Only Way To Be

He came rolling slow down Shepherd Road
Pulled in at three thirteen
She came running with a schoolgirl smile
In her sweatshirt and her jeans
She threw her arms around his neck
Her legs around his waist
And as he held her o so tight
A tear ran down his face

They lingered in this moment
That had finally arrived
They felt so filled with joy and love
They felt so much alive
And looking deep into her eyes
He stumbled on some words
She put her finger on his lips
As if she hadn't heard

She took his hand and led him
To a winding mountain way
They walked and smiled and marveled
At the splendor of the day
Then coming to a private place
Where no one was around
They could almost hear their hearts beat
As they tumbled to the ground

They made sweet love for hours
In the California sun
Two souls had come together
Two hearts that beat as one
Sweet kisses and caresses
As they quenched their appetites
Embracing every instant
As they loved with all their might

The hands of time were standing still
There was no yesterday
The heartaches and the shattered dreams
For now had gone away
They felt each other's passion
With each wave of ecstacy
They finally were together now
The only way to be
