The Only Way Out Poem by Sara Militello

The Only Way Out

The Only Way Out

Death will finally claim all
Whether slinking inside a shielding skin
Or walking proud and fearless when...
So live your life without the mask
Many wear and weather supine
That in the autumn of your years
Without the mask that never was
You'd know you did alright;
For a life well-lived is always real
And yours alone to be lived.
Do it worldly wise and free!
Then no one would be there to say
You had no right to be
Because you'd already have been
you see.
