The Old Man Poem by obinna tochi

The Old Man

Is life a faithful bride?
Does life serve diligently?
And at any feet.

Life…
Life, I think is a beautiful damsel -
With a soiled character.

If lions were pets,
Shall they play with our little ones?
Or let alone dance with them.

For I have seen…
The birth and death of civilization,
Too long a time to recall my birth.

What haven't I seen…?

I have seen water,
Killed by fire ‘a rare circumstance one would say.'

I have seen oceans drown in a river,
A day time hallucination one would ponder.

What haven't I heard…?
That death is a friend to the wise,
And a foe to the unprepared.
