The Old Days Poem by Francis Duggan

The Old Days

Henry Lawson sang of The Drover
Though those days are now in the past
And the passing of time always bring change
And nothing ever does seem to last.

The old days are now gone forever
And change comes with every new day
And the beautiful young woman in her twenties
Must soon dye her hair for to cover her gray.

The old days we remember with fondness
And the good times we love to recall
But the Seasons keep coming and going
And old age it comes to us all.

The boys and the girls of the sixties
Are many years beyond their prime
And some of their grandchildren are parents
They too are growing older with time.

The old days we tend to remember
Yet the past to us is a closed door
Our span of time is such a brief span
And death it is forever more.
