The Mystic In Me Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

The Mystic In Me

Rating: 4.4

Amazing how long the peace lily keeps blooming
Alone before a southern window
Impossibly white like the pond locus
In love with the late spring sun.

The mystic in me gladly passes her way
Making my rounds here and there
Stopping each time in silent appreciation
Each day more than the last.

I for one have never believed
That this elegant splendor was meant just for bees
Yes maybe it's just the mystic in me
But I hear the universe laughing.

I have the beautiful peace lily in my kitchen. I look at it daily and appreciate the beautiful flower that I see each day. The beauty in beauty is astounding and never ceases to amaze me in so many small but wonderful things we see in our daily lives. Its takes some people the genius of words like you have before they can see and then again perhaps they still dont understand. Understanding is the simplicity that beauty is.... I love this poem Eddie, you are appreciated by the likes of me, as one of the beautiful minds in this world.

What do we gain when we become self aware? Everything. We all have a level of awareness but in truth conversation or basic life among people teaches us that most people lack that spark, that internal flame of appreciation for their impossible chance to exist and experience this passion play. We are most engaged the less we try. We must trust our instincts and survey the world with a certainty and unflinching eye. We must always heed the advice that we extend to others. I have gravitated naturally to certain poets, as sure as I know which food and music to consume so too do I know which poetry is most delicious. Many of the writings of the people on this page have inspired me and the pleasure has been all mine.

This is Writing with a capital W. With a HUGE capital W. You have skills and talent to spare, Edmund. Yes maybe it's just the mystic in me But I hear the universe laughing.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -I truly believe this about you because there are so many of your poems that reverberate with that quality.

How can we have our senses so enchanted by visions, scents, melodies and warmth of hot apple pie without thinking that we can not communicate these pleasures because they are very personal and yet wonderfully universal. Yes the universe laughs and offers a nod and a wink to those fortunate souls with a spark in their eyes.

A wonderful poem, the last verse made me laugh I love how intimately connected it all is. I remember asking a dying woman how life was different for her now. She said now I see the flowers. The mystic in you slowing down to see. This poem takes the reader home to what really matters.
