The Muezzin Voice Poem by John Rolland

The Muezzin Voice

Rating: 5.0

I make you this confession
Although of Christian faith,
The sound which I prefer
It is the voice of the Muezzin
At the top of the minaret,
Particularly that of the evening
Which delivers from abuses
of stones and wind,
This voice which flies away
As a peace fabric
Taking with her
The heavy hats of dawn.

mixed then in my soul
Distant perfumes
Of saffron and cinnamon
Of houses of big whiteness.

I makes you this confession
The sound which I prefer
It is the voice of the Muezzin
On this small town
Which enlightens the Lake Tiberias,
This moment which returns ceaselessly
With the grace of a reflection
On the gleaming water of dreams.
