The Mosquito Invasion Poem by Elliot Moore Ahiator

The Mosquito Invasion

Smack! Whack! Ta!
Looking like idiots we go a clapping.
All arsenals released,
ears tuned to the familiar annoying whizzing,
as limbs go supersonic in search for angry retribution.

Haywire we go, all senses befuddled.
Welcome Pain!
We greet, as callused hand, meets tender flesh
provided its rewards are,
a beautiful bloody smear of black and red.

Foul smelling concoctions.
Forget! We’ll endure.
If to vanquish, we must lose sleep
then gladly we’ll keep vigil.

Bed sheets blooded, alas, be not deceived.
This sadly is no deflowering.
Never ending, never ending
The foe masses, never ending,
hordes uncountable yet never ending.
Dusk embraces cold, we man our stations.
Forward! To meet the elusive fiends.
