The Morning After Poem by Lorraine Licona

The Morning After

While the sweat on your brow
still lingers
from the sweet night of love
a cool breeze from the open window
gently caresses your naked skin
The passionate kisses give way
to morning slumber
as I rise and fall in your arms
in time to the steady rhythm of your breath
I feel the radiance of your love
all around me
bathing me in waves of emotion
till my heart feels it can hold no more
I am lost between darkness and dawn
in a dream from which I never want to wake
and finally I know
what it feels like to be loved
