Lorraine Licona Poems

The undertow
dragging me down under
The current
carrying me with each wave of pain
...

No one sees and no one tries
to find the pain in lonely eyes
They're strong and bold they hide the tears
that many people cry in years
...

Dream your dreams my little boy
dream them while you can
For all too soon my little boy
you will be a man
...

The battle-cry went out
and they marched in obedience
for the opportunity
to defend their country
...

He kissed his wife and children goodbye
and with nothing more than the clothes on his back
began his long journey to a better life
...

Love has no remorse
when the cold hard truth hits
It has no feelings of sympathy
Nor is kindness
...

Sometimes in fear
I build a wall
But know it is only my self-defense
as your silence is yours
...

I never thought I would love again
but I do
So in love with you
Much more
...

As I watched you walk away
today
I cried
But a strength inside
...

While the sweat on your brow
still lingers
from the sweet night of love
a cool breeze from the open window
...

Take me away
to a warm summer breeze
where the fragrance of the red roses bloom
under a midnight moon
...

He kissed his wife and children goodbye
and with nothing more than the clothes on his back
began his long journey to a better life
...

As I watch you cry
Tears rolling down your cheek
I wondered
if for just one moment
...

Talking to you
I feel my heart opening like a flower
allowing my feelings
to finally escape
...

I can’t imagine life without you
You have become a part of me
Without you I would not exist
Your life moves within me
...

The battle-cry went out
and they marched in obedience
for the opportunity
to defend their country
...

As I watched you lying there
bathed in morning sun
skin shimmering in rainbow colors
hair touched with gold
...

What will I do when you take away the music
When all I'll have left will be the silence
screaming in my head?
...

The dark tunnel of depression closes in
like the night
Suffocating me, squeezing and crushing my heart
as it’s black walls press against my body
...

I stood at the edge of the world
and looked deep into the chasm
which was like my heart -
an endless pit of fear and darkness
...

The Pain Of Separation

The undertow
dragging me down under
The current
carrying me with each wave of pain
I flounder and fight for breath
drowning in my sea of tears
and endless sleepless nights
The deep black water
fills my lungs
as I choke on my feelings
I wish this nightmare would end
that I could draw my last breath
then die at last
But this hell is eternal
All I see is my life passing before me
as memories of my times with you
