The Morning Poem by Ernest Elliot Daka

The Morning

Rating: 5.0

The morning has come again
We can start worrying about it
It brings with it, responsibilities
And there are challenges too
The morning has come again
May God help us all today

The morning has come again
Where is the food for the children
That is food to break the fasting
But we need the lunch or starve
Unless we choose to sleep hungry
No please, the children must eat

The morning has come again
Yet all the clothes are dirty
Is there no water to launder them
Mayhap the soap is finished
Shall we launder without water
Nor mend the patches and holes
Where is the money for new ones

The morning has come again
And so has the landlord's wife
Or is it the meter man's turn
He will close the water and power
For we last paid the bills when?
Why does he come in the morning

The morning has come again
Father, where are you this morning
Please bring the food this morning
And don't forget the clothes
A little bit of soap will be good
But water is better for life
Or is it prayer we need the most
For the morning has come again!
