The Message Of Hands In A Celtic Marriage Poem by George Bernard Hough

The Message Of Hands In A Celtic Marriage

Your hands are your means of expressing
what feelings you have in your heart.
A smile and a wave when you`re greeting
a tear and a touch when you part.

Your` hand can send forth a message
to fill your` beloved with bliss!
Just lift to your` lips when you purse them
and use it to blow her a kiss!

A caress from the hand of your lover
means more than a treasure to you.
Holding of hands without saying a word
can speak of love tender and true!

Your` hands are for taking your` loved one,
and, holding her close to your` breast,
protect her from lifes hidden dangers.
To this, on this day, you attest!

The figure of eight that your hands make
when tied on your`marriage this day.
Means togetherness for eternity
whilst cruising loves` highway.

The knot that ties your` hands this day,
binds you, each one to the other.
A promise made and by witnesses heard
That you vow to love one another.
