Waves spin, sweep matter,
play the music of the spheres
on the lyre of stars.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I dedicate this humble haiku to two giants in the history of ideas, Pythagoras and Kepler, who heard the songs of the universe, the music of the spheres. In "The Harmony of the Spheres", Pythagoras (6th-5th centuries BCE)advanced the theory that in their orbital revolution, the Sun, the Moon and the planets emit unique celestial sounds that are imperceptible to the human ear. Many centuries later, Kepler published "Harmonices Mundi" (1619) , in which he founded the harmonic system of the solar system on geometry. From his geometrical model of the heavens and the earth, Kepler derived a cosmology based on musical intervals and musical motion.

In the Theory of Quantum Mechanics wave-particle duality and matter waves play a central part. It is believed that all matter can behave in wave-like manner. In 1924 Louis de Broglie proposed the idea that matter behaves like a wave and this was later also experimentally demonstrated.

Paul, this a beautiful Haiku and together with your explanatory notes reminds me of a poem I have written titled: The Music of The Spheres which you may find interesting to read.
