Our story started as most things do..
With time spent together, alone or not..
Years of exchanging banter with you..
In the hallways, in class, or the parking lot..

The latest chapter? This is how it begins..
It all came to a head start...in the first part..
One quick question, one quick kiss..
Fleeting like the prick of a Cupid dart..

A reply and an agreement to meet..
A movie, dinner, and a short walk home..
The sentence written next, a form of deceit..
I couldn't resist...like a thousand ohms..

You were my first, feelings unfurled..
Yet the words were different than it seemed..
You changed how I saw the world..
In crumpled paragraphs and broken schemes..

Lies and deception...those were your forte..
One week together and it ends already..
But it's the excuse that's just not okay..
The fact and fiction creating an eddy..

A whirlpool of thought in my mind..
The words of friends against yours..
The sincerity and revelations rewind..
Flip the pages back to page four..

Single again. But that's the way it should be..
No heartbreak, no subterfuge..
You just wanted to be with someone else, I can see..
And now I have my poetry as my refuge..
