The Looking Glass Poem by Peter Tamburrino

The Looking Glass

Rating: 5.0

Time ticks away and my mind starts to wander
As I think of the memories of which grew fonder
Is my life a string of failures
For this is what I ponder

I lost loves, gained pains, and failed amongst my desires
These once were truths but now realized are the liars
Is my life a string of failures
As I toil with my mires

Age takes us all and are we any wiser
It grips the peasant as well as the Kaiser
Is my life a string of failures
Weeping as an old miser

We are all students in the world’s endless class
When will we see that nothing ever lasts
Is my life a string of failures
I say staring in my looking glass
