The Lonely Times Poem by Practicing Poetess

The Lonely Times

Rating: 5.0

The lonely times,
When you're not here with me,
Are harder to endure
Now that I have you
In my life.
I was alone before,
And grew resigned, content.
But you've opened up a door,
And now I want more.
You've brought such happiness
And laughter to me.
I was so numb before.
That wall around my heart is coming down,
And you're playing a part.
It all began so simply
With a knock upon your door,
And then you invited me in.
We shared a long, mutual talk,
And then you asked me for a hug.
That hug awakened something
In us both.
Neither of us wanted to let go.
We felt so perfect in each others' arms.
Six record-breaking, long hugs later,
It just doesn't feel right
On days when we're apart.
It's harder to wait until our next hug.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Dedicated to my brown-eyed man!
For the first time since I've been on this site (since March 2017) ,
AT LAST!A real-life sweetheart, here locally! Now I'm not limited to only writing imaginary love poetry, but have a real-life inspiration! I hope that everyone will be happy for me. Naturally I will be spending more time with him, but he is very supportive of my poetry, so I'll still be appearing on the site, too.
I think we broke the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest-lasting hug, with our first hug! This poem and the following one about him, bring my poem total on this site to 100 poems!

It is so heartening that the door has been opened for you, taking away some loneliness. A hug is the way to give and receive love.

Thank you, Michael! You are one of my favourites in the Top 500 poets. Or was it most active members? (This site can mess with your mind sometimes!) Anyway, you've left your mark on this site, and I cherish your comments! Happy Christmas, Mister Walker! {{{Michael}}} ! (Cyber-hug!)

Thank you, Tom! Long-awaited hugs. And best of all, they're mutually shared! Nothing compares with that. Written from the heart, is quite right- - And my heart is very full these days!

Thank you so much, Bec. I don't know that I'd exactly call it LOVE at this early stage (that first meeting was the end of October) , but we are now up to 8 record-breaking, LONG hugs! And the lonely times are about to start again- -We saw each other Saturday because he had to leave Sunday to drive to the airport for another long trip. He will not return until January. So much for Christmas! This relationship is challenging.

Rini, hugs and KISSES? Did I write anything about KISSES? But you are quite perceptive. Yes, we have already kissed- - And it was pretty intense! We both had to back away for air for a few moments! LOL

Thanks, Lamar. I highly recommend a real-life, local, loving relationship to everyone. Someone present who you can wrap your arms around, beats writing imaginary lovesick poetry, any day! I wasn't expecting this turn of events in my life. This man is a precious gift to me!
