The Leather Shoes Poem by Arunesh Dixit

The Leather Shoes

Adorned on the racks in brown and black
Some with laces and some without hacks
Entangled crisscross at top and board at base
Shoes look like the wagons to be foot case

Made in all shapes and sizes suitable to many
Toddlers' with light and wheels, gratifies Granny
Movement is swifter by using this tool
Keeps winter warmer and summers cool

Polished and well cared shoes exhibits beauty
Adds much value in overall displayed personality
Young and old, men and women, high and low
Wear it some as necessity and some for beauty

Yet myriads of bare footed people in the world
Can only dream for this luxury if have a shirt
They run on fields and work on uneven roads
Can't aspire the pair of shoes even for the kids

So this tailored skin set of butchered animal
Casketed for the feet of some luckier ones
At the cost of life of some moving being
Still caring the human beings to get pricking

Humans looking only for the good of their race
At the cost of extinction of gullible animals trace
Is the human brain working in sync with nature?
It is not evidenced in present and grim for future

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The poem is taken from my book 'Innocent Colors'. The idea about this poem came into my mind when I purchased a pair of shoes which cost me more than the monthly budget of some people. This also made me to think on the cruelty we do.
