The Last Dream Poem by Lora Colon

The Last Dream

Rating: 4.5

When my dreams are but an ember
Of the waning fire of life,
I shall have you to remember,
Your peace, your love..... just a bit of strife

Dreams that only you could fulfill,
From cold graves will awaken,
The very earth will quake to the thrill,
As the hills and mountains are shaken

Fond memories, deep as the sea,
Will bring my days to a close,
The poems of love you wrote for me,
The dying summer's last fragrant rose

From Heaven's scroll, what splendor streamed
The first time your heart touched mine,
Wishes came true, loving eyes gleamed,
Together, our music was divine

Such are the memories my mind sees....
Sun shining through falling rain,
Flowers and buds on ice-covered trees,
Yes, our love bled, but it left no stain

And when it's time for the last dream,
My darling, come back for me!
Come, take my hand while we cross that stream
To love again in eternity
