The Lady In The White Russian Hat Poem by Lottie McDuffie

The Lady In The White Russian Hat

They skated through Gorkey Park and on to Red Square,
And they passed Pushkin's statue, where poetry once filled the air. She wore a white Russian hat and was dressed warmly,
Like somebody cared, although her clothes had a southern flare. They say she came from far away. Where roses bloom in winter,
And cotton is king and children pull stalks of sweet sugar cane. They skated to Russian music like, "Somewhere My Love,"
As the great northern lights shown down from above. They would stop now and then to sip warm tea and chat,
And everyone wanted to skate with the lady in the white Russian hat.
