The Journey Of Song Poem by Paula Kneeland

The Journey Of Song

In the soul, melodies begin and take root
Some blossom.
Some die as travails of life.
A bene placito. - (it's up to the performer)

Sparks ignite tender blue flames and hint of secrets shrouded there.
They may emerge as blazes.
Wildfires through dry forest.
Play at heart strings ‘till you shed rivers of tears.
Drown in the sightless depths of King Neptune's sovereignty, gasping at one last chance of life.

Words twisted and turned upward in a crescendo of birth
A capriccio tempo free
as it arises caressing and expressive,
Arpeggios moving up and down striking their notes in sharp agony.

A final euphoric release in allegiance to love, to loss, and life. A songs journey is ever fraught with danger following our inward fantasies with an immediacy and intimacy that haunts us in dreams.
