The Journey Of Existence Poem by Emily Trense

The Journey Of Existence

Yesterday I had no Responsibility,
I was just a child.
I only had me to look out for
I was wild.
Thinking I would never grow up,
I felt I could be anything.
But, I came to an end,
It passes like seasons, it ended as fast as spring.

School forced me to grow up,
I was exposed to things things I never thought I’d see.
I aged throughout the years,
I saw bullying, hate, and poverty.
Yet, I was sheltered,
And could make many friends.
We thought we’d rule the world,
that our reign would never end.

Life is a journey,
It may sound cliché.
But some need the truth
that it has to say.
'Carpe diem, ' seize the day
Through the ease and the strife.
Look up, keep your head up,
Buckle up, enjoy the ride of life.

Life crept up with me.
I was immersed in work.
Doing everything I could for money and promotions
When someone mentioned fun, I would only smirk.
Little did I know, a break was right around the corner,
In the form of my significant other.
When we married I was never so happy.
There was no one we’d love than another

Life is a journey,
It may sound cliché.
But some need the truth
that it has to say.
'Carpe diem, ' seize the day
Through the ease and the strife.
Look up, keep your head up,
Buckle up, enjoy the ride of life.

Now I’m looking back,
Looking at my life.
It’s been pretty good,
In it love has been rife.
It’s easy to get lost
In all of its troubles.
But with friends and family
The greatness of life doubles.

Life is a journey,
It may sound cliché.
But some need the truth
that it has to say.
'Carpe diem, ' seize the day
Through the ease and the strife.
Look up, keep your head up,
Buckle up, enjoy the ride of life.
