The Isle Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

The Isle

The isle just a rock
Out jutting
The sea embraces her
The sirens play
There

Then tired
Sit
At
The
Mid-sea rock.

Though
Mid-sea
It be
Not far
From bay
And beach.

And
Noon
There's silence
Of enamored crickets
Still singing
Slow
A whisper in the rocks
Cool rocks
Cool whispering

And
Dusk
And
Night
Find the crickets
Louder and louder
As the night deepens
And
The night-stars watch
The moon walking
Tiptoes on the edge
Of the isle
The splendid-humble isle
Of lazing lizards and
silent whispering…..
