The In Betweens Poem by Lana May Hamlin

The In Betweens

I dance when no ones watching
I sing so you can’t hear
I cry alone in the darkness
Longing to have you here

I smile to cover up the pain
I laugh with my whole heart
I walk around with confidence
As my world is slowly falling apart

I close my eyes and I see our possibilities
My body aching for your touch
Our eyes lock and I secretly beg for a kiss
That not asking for too much

Even a kiss would be harmful
A touch would ruin us both
Simply watching you is deadly
For we had taken an oath

Maybe someday we’ll go on this craving
Find out what this really means
We’ll be able to hold each other
Without any in betweens
