The Hypocrite Poem by Debasis Chatterjee

The Hypocrite

The human kind believes in lofty ideals of science, religion,
Customs and pride, freely talks about secularism and free expression
And rights of individual, impartiality of treatment, caste, creed,
And color of skin, racism, battles, wars, bloodshed and greed!

The human kind believes in democracy, liberalism, development,
Free economy, free trade, benefits for climate change movement,
Food for all, no starvation, no malnutrition deaths, education
For all, pollution free atmosphere so the children grow in unison.

The human kind does not act on their beliefs of science, religion,
Customs and pride, fight secularism and actually curb free expression
And rights, provides no equal treatment and impartiality
Of caste, creed and racism is a word scorned by the majority.
Battles, wars, bloodshed and greed are masculinity of the right
Just it had been since when Man first saw the Light.

The human kind believes in autocracy, dogmatism, development
Of the Rich, the Poor a shame to waste time upon, movement
For climate change a no-show, the Rich are too busy to care
For the Others; no starvation - malnutrition deaths - education, bare
Essentials for all including the children - a popular subject,
Which the human kind loves to debate and do nothing to protect.

The human kind is actually bigoted, racist, perfidiously nationalist,
Sows hatred, fear, discrimination, and, by nature, casuist;
The human kind is the biggest fool, who worship day and night
But without certitude, without belief, without conviction
That there is One Omnipotent God, of whom they all are the Creation.

The human kind is the ultimate duplicitous, the extreme charlatan.
