The Hermit Poem by Allan James Saywell

The Hermit

The cave was dark
An ideal place
For a Hermit to live
He held a fascination
For a young boy
Like myself
I went to the cave
Almost everyday
Are you afraid hermit
Of the light of day
Are you afraid
Of birds in trees
Are you afraid
Of a bee in flowers
Or water cascading
Down a waterfall
He answered from
That dark cave
I'm just afraid of life
The dark is like a friend
That surrounds me
Like an embrace
The stars are like
A crowd of people
That i see only from within
Like people who i cant hear or see
Nor they me
I love the night
And the night loves me
