The Hawk And The Bee Poem by Britt Veloso

The Hawk And The Bee

We used to smash bottles in the streets
Thinking being punk was so sweet
I remember when we first touched
Driving around in your clutch
Grabbing onto your heated skin in that blizzard
Playing trivia, smoking pot, getting slizzard
Becoming real people
I always wanted you
The almost nights that made up my youth
Something almost rose, but could not grow
We now sit and wait
Too afraid to mate
Sitting worlds away, making no sense
On the same blank space trying to write
Why is this so hard?
So we smash that bottle again and again
And watch our worlds bleed
Watch what happens
Nothing is left to say
Let go
Let live
Let's play
