The Hallowe'En Visitor Poem by Lone Dog

The Hallowe'En Visitor

Oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo!
The shadows grew as the twilight dimmed!
Ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee!
I heard a shriek on the evening wind!
Woo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo!
The bats flew low in the moonlight's glow!
Wee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee!
A banshee screamed by the corpses green!

`Twas Hallowe'en with the ghosts about.
I was home alone with my parents out.
The doors were locked and the blinds were drawn
But I couldn't sleep with my folks both gone.
Then, I heard a noise in a downstairs room
And my heart beat fast in the dark'ning gloom!
I froze dead still as my eyes stretched wide,
Then the stairway creaked and I almost died!
The sweat poured down from my fear-drenched head
As I shook like a leaf in my old oak bed!
My eyes were glued on that bedroom door -
Then, the knob slowly turned and my pulse rate soared!
Th-the door swung open with a wicked creak
A-a-and I saw a form `round the doorway peak!
A-a-and it said!

'Goodnight son.'
