The Green Forest (In Memory Of Prof. Wangari Mathai) Poem by Ishmael Onserio

The Green Forest (In Memory Of Prof. Wangari Mathai)

That influx came humbled,
Lastly as witnesses of that great FOREST,
She cherished universal color of leafy grass each day,
It was not like in a blind spot,
Her name had been all over,
For many years past until that saddening hour,
Lips have proclaimed worldwide,
About sanity; GREEN, the color of life,
She trod along valleys of pounded grounds,
There she created a future with young roots,
Those torrents came through her, the second hand.
She is gone, the mother of nature,
Into those flames of her wish,
In that urn, the upsurge of her immortal deeds;
Fumes of fame and genuine praise,
Her uproar on ecological degradation was real,
That multitude on her last day was true,
All moved from heart to comfort,
She deserved the honor and praise,
In her light we can boldly face the future,
The legacy of prosperity will ever stand,
I believe not in words, but a preservation,
She always said and advocated broadly,
Unfeigned heart outpour in that time of need,
That depart came by so hastily,
Surely for her, the mother of nature.
