The Greatest Love Poem by TANIMONURE ADEWALE

The Greatest Love

Today is Sunday.
Our message of today
THE GREATEST LOVE
May God bless
The poetic preaching and reaching
Of his wonderful word. Amen.

1.
What want will you, to be
My dearest son, tell me?
Sir, a pastor as my preferred profession
My daily prayer, continuous confession.
But why, in sturdy sigh, my son I ask?
Oh! Relax Dad, your ears my words let it bask.

2.
In the best of cost and cut of a suave suit
Before throng of thousands congregating
My lofty livelihood, my largesse of living good
Serenading them with mellifluous message, music and mirth
Of living and achieving volumes of vanities in vivid flaunts
A potent opium powerfully pleasuring their ears, hearts and minds
They open the floodgates of their banks in manifold currencies
As my offerings, tithes and other church demands
After all, I serve a stupendously rich 'God'
Who must bless me with stupendously rich throng
Making me stupendously rich in riches, fame and devotion
'Our Daddy'. How sweet in voices to hear the respected two words
Filled with high hero worshipping. What bliss!
Daddy, a PASTOR I certainly must.

3.
Can you see that man?
Oh, how degrading disgusting
And totally taboo too, to act a fool
Bringing an abomination into the congregation
And gosh! ! ! Oh my Gooood! ! ! ! ! ! !
He hugs warmly the sorry sore of sores
What contamination! An outright abomination! ! !
A Man of God of highest calling and calibre
In a global show of absurdity and nonsensicality
Oh! ! ! This is stomach cringing and churning
Usher, P.A., quick come, bring bowl, I want to vomit voluminously.

4.
God said love your neighbour as yourself
But is this sore to see, he means please?
He should be kept an isolate desolate
Offerings taken as token, sent via a chosen delegate
Not allowed in within the gate, come in communicate
Or offend my congregation. No, no, this I strongly hate
Security! ! ! ! ! Come here fast in haste
Come and explain, fully expantiate
Why you should not be sacked now, straight.

5.
And Jesus saw all, stood up towering tall
He took the quill, dipped it full to fill
And wrote, and wrote in full note
And put a seal until the time stands still.

And that is the end of my poetic sermon
A poetic parable I hope you fully understand.
God bless you in Jesus name. Amen.
