The Great Fire Poem by Kim Davies

The Great Fire

Distant dragon
On the war-path
Roars and thunders
His mighty wrath
Furious hot breath
Flames abound
Raw aggression
Unleashed on the town

Gnarling, snarling
Devouring homes
Terrified people
Fleeing in droves
Screaming children
Clutched to their chest
No salvation
Amid the tempest

Scrambling, darting
Full of woe
This way and that way
To and fro
That way and this way
Where to go?

Hurrying, flurrying
No time to waste
Relentless monster
Advancing in haste
Insatiable hunger
Havoc it wreaks
Gulping the life
From fear-filled streets

Of course this poem is really about the Fire of London but i used the extended metaphor of the dragon to represent the fire.
