The Girl With Sea Green Eyes Summer Of 54 Poem by Thomas Henry Reynolds

The Girl With Sea Green Eyes Summer Of 54

We rode up to the snack bar on that summer day.
Dave on a Triumph, Jake on a Norton, me on my B.S.A.
We were there to see her the girl with the sea green eyes.
She was every young man's dream, a magnet for the guys.
'Three hot dogs and three cokes' said Davy if you will.
'A sweet smile from you my love and a fiver from the till'.
'What time do you get off' said Jake'I'll give you a ride
just say the time my girl and I; ll be right outside'
She just smiled at him, the girl with sea green eyes.
'I have a lift with Hank at nine' she said' to my surprise
Well I just sat there and tried to play it cool,
but everyone could see, old Hank was blushing like a fool.
hell I'd just been chosen from all the other guys,
by this teenage dream, the girl with sea green eyes.
Well I was there at nine on my old B.S.A.
She wrapped her arms around me as we rode away.
I don't know how, or why, I had won this prize
but I just thank the stars, for the girl with sea green eyes.
