The Girl In Red Poem by Kim Thomas

The Girl In Red

This is an addition poem starting with one letter in the first line and adding one additional letter in each subsequent line.

O,
to
be a
girl
in red,
waving
a hand or
blowing a
kiss at you,
as the train
takes me away.

This poem reflects the feelings I had when my husband was first receiving invitations to travel and give talks, and I wasn't, even though we'd been educated at the same top colleges and were in the same profession. I've since gotten over the resentment and had my own small successes, but I still wear red when I want attention.
