The Full Moon Poem by Vigna Mukund

The Full Moon

Rating: 5.0

I throw bright light on the world at a sight
Which I borrowed from Sun, my brother
Sole lamps I fetch for the sky at a stretch
To show myself to Milky Way, my mother
I'm the queen this night over everything in flight
For the earthlings see my full face
Like fire I blaze amidst the stars gaze
For I'm easily spotted in the sky's maze.

I'm not born white as think you might
I bade a yellow good bye to the Sun,
I flood my evening kingdom in yellow stardom
As I bask in my cradle to watch the fun:
The sky has cleared away to give me the way
And my green subjects wave to honor my presence
The Sun pays its tribute in its setting lute
But the busy humans seem to find this nonsense.

I have infinite age but today it's maiden haze
I'm the princess of heaven
I bear no pride in taking a stride
Across the kingly route of worlds a seven.
Although I bow to the earth below
The earthly wonders bow to me
Although I get my light from the Sun's sight
My beams are more beautiful to see.

I'm the crown of the heaven's town:
All other orbs shatter in front of me.
I never have to boast these are truths in most.
All the stars fade in overwhelming glee
To see their Master, the beauty spell caster
Pass through the majestic way
Of the heaven and worlds a seven
On to the queens chair until the day.
