The Fire Ball Poem by Lonnie Hicks

The Fire Ball

Rating: 2.7

I see this
Fire Ball
shifting;
I see its
glow
which is transfixing;

it dances
in thin air,
it floats
folding over itself
and more,
it trails sparkle dust.

This Fire Ball
transfixes me
singeing sometimes
my finger tips

and once landed
on my carpeted floor

where I approached
wanting to see up close
what lies in side my Fire-Ball
the orb I live with.

A tiny light
danced just inside
and eager
I peeked close
to see
an eye looking straight back at me;

an eye
looking back at me.

Startled
I move away
and then
go back for another look
placing my face up close
again to see
an eye
that blinking

looking at me.

It was my own eye
blinking.

I have this Fire Ball
which transfixing me
and now I realize
it's me;
my own Consciousness
possessing me.

I am stunned by the
realization
that womankind
and mankind
are the only animals
which can recognize
and stare eye to eye
with our own existence.
