The Everlasting Sunset Poem by Leonora Bus

The Everlasting Sunset

Upon the cream of blue which surrounds all life
A beauty burns through and creates an internal strife
For no longer is she proud of the treasure she possesses
No longer is she valued for her gift, consisting of all life's blessings
No longer does she receive caresses from those simple frosts of white
Which she once spread her arms towards and painted their edges golden and bright
No longer does her stream of gold pour down between the leaves
Never did the trees struggle so hard to reach and get hold of her sleeves
Once know to be a radiant beauty, the one illuminating all that is dark
Is now lost and forgotten, blending in with the frosts of white

Uniform to the others she cannot remain
Her beams of light do not approve it
They tussle through the clouds to grasp earth's terrain
They give life to all, including the trees
Those envious clouds have their edges painted
Their secrets are kept with her, only she knows their true intentions

Then there came a day that changed her forever
Those eyes she concealed were finally revealed
Startled by a light that couldn't be ignored
She set out on a mission to discover what it was
As she followed it, towards the ocean she went
The discovery she made confused her at the most
Deep within the ocean she saw her own self
Through him she realized who she truly was
And every single life which stood on earth's ground
Awed at such a sight and never forgot
They gathered and waited till the next twilight
To once again see the bond between the ocean and the sun

I wrote this when I was 14.
