The Elephant In The China Shop Poem by Roy Johnson

The Elephant In The China Shop

is quite a lot different
from the elephant in the room.

It has grace and style
and moves like a ballerina
with zest and zoom.

Nothing gets broken,
nothing gets moved,
no noise, no boom.

The slightest slip
and the trunk comes out
and sweeps ‘round the room

neat and precise
tidy and clean
like work on a loom

keeping everything as safe
as it would be
in the womb.

So the elephant in the china shop
is so much better to have around
than the elephant in the room.
